Class and Home Practice

Time: There are no set rules. Some, like me, prefer the morning. Before dinner or before bed time are also good. One can even break up the practice session into ten minute sections. Ideally, you should create a special place to pratice your asanas, one that is away from household interference, that is clean, and has a rug.

Women should not do inverted poses during menstruation as these interfere with the natural outflow of blood.

Before You Begin:

—Wait for 4-5 hours after a heavy meal before doing asanas. If you have an evening class, eat very, very lightly.
— Empty the bladder and move the bowels before you start.
— Practise in loose-fitting clothing and bare feet.
— Work on a non-slip mat or floor.
— Fold blankets neatly when preparing to use thmj, as any creases will disturb your practice
— Remove hard contact lenses.
— Avoid straining
