Dear Yoga students and those interested in Yoga,

As the new round of classes settle in, it has become obvious to me that a change needs to be made for those whose schedules are not consistent enough to commit to a six-weeks course. Also, because a class now consists of people who have missed some days here and there, there is still a need for the teacher to model the posture with demonstration and verbal directions.

So, my conclusion is that we can just have both, a six-week course, and an open class where one can just come when one needs to. The fee for a single class will be $10. There always seems to be enough space.

Making space in one’s life for a yoga routine is not easy, and the support of a class is really necessary at this stage. It is like trying to make a clear space in an algae covered pond to see your face. Without the help of other hands, one hand is usually not enough to make a space, let alone clear the pond of its green cover.

Our mind, with all its plans, and the world, with all its demands, are the algae. Our yearning for wholeness, health, and freedom from the stress of modern life is the hand that tries to bring awareness and clarity to the mind. But our mind/world has a very strong inertia that is difficult to change, and it also seems that the moment we try to clear some space for ourselves, the world knocks harder at our door, demanding our attention. So, in all the wisdom paths, keeping company of those who are walking the same path is very important. In time, the clear space in the green pond gets large enough so that one can sweep the pond of its stagnation with the need of less support. And, after that, one can begin helping others clear their pond of algae.

So, from now on, you can come to any of the classes without worry that you have missed too much, or will not know what to do. Yoga is like my great house, which says, “I have just the space for you.”

Current class schedule is: Monday night, 7:30; Tuesday evening, 7:30; Wednesday afternoon, 2:00, Wednesday evening, 7:30 (couples night).

And don’t forget, Thursday evenings, 7:00-8:00 or 8:30, is Eckhart Tolle night, where we will listen to portions of his teachings recorded at retreats, where he takes us along the path to becoming more present to our life and experiencing the joy that lies beneath the problematic mind. After the words comes a meditation, or the practice of stillness. There is no fee for this evening.

Thank you,
Om Peace
