Dear Yoga students and those interested in Yoga,

As the last of the six week course comes to an end of its allotted time, our moments in class seem to become more timeless. When we are not focusing on where we want to be next, the present moment opens itself to us and reveals the depth in time that we miss as our minds hurry to get to the next moment.

Debbie Yancey asked last night what my wife and I do here at our house. And this morning I opened up my present moment and found this journal entry writing itself. In answer to Debbie, here is what we do now.The House of Now

As our yoga deepens and begins to spread into the time of our everyday world, we are discovering that yoga is much larger that just an exercise mat. We should look at us on our yoga mat as if we were on a magic carpet that takes the awareness we are discovering into every moment of our day, expanding it, deepening it, and allowing it to reveal the timelessness buried there.

This is Yoga’s wish: Let every moment be allowed to present itself to us unlabeled by the thinking mind; let it be transformed into a Christmas present full of unknown delight and beauty. A moment not wrapped by our time-bound mind is always a gift to be accepted with thankfulness, regardless of what we think it should be. Life, when not boxed into minutes, days, and months is a Christmas tree full of present moments hanging from its limbs. But these present moments are not strung on the tree like lights and ornaments. The tree is the present moment, a living moment that unfolds its gifts to each of us as we deserve them. What we receive on the tree of life is what we have hung from its limbs by the thoughts of our time-bound mind.

What matters is not what we receive, but how we receive it. We can either open the moment and wish for more, or we can open our eyes in wonder and say (thoughtlessly)...”This is perfect! Thank you.”

No matter what we have hung on our Christmas tree, the gift of life is always perfect, always just what we need to help us open our eyes to see the wonder of life as it is. From the perspective of yoga, every moment is a gift, and when viewed this way, our whole life is full of light and beautiful ornaments...and at it’s top the source of light shines down through us and fills us with peace.

New classes start Nov. 14, and there is still space for you.
There is still space for two couple for the Wednesday night Relationship Yoga class. The best place to practice the yoga of expanded awareness is in a loving relationship. In this class we will explore not what we see, but how we see.

When we take off the packaging of time we have wrapped our loved ones in, we discover that the state of “being in love” which brought us together long ago....is still here, as fresh and even more powerful than ever. Time does not dull love....it only hides it.

May everyone have a timeless moment of Thanksgiving.
Ed

Thank you,
Om Peace
