BYC Newsletter #5

Dear Yoga students and those interested in Yoga,

The fourth week of our 6-week course is about over, and I am thinking ahead to what would best serve those interested in the practice of yoga. A Level I class of Tues evening has 5 people signed up and another level I Wed. at 2 P.M. has four signed. Tues. afternoon has a Level II with 2 people signed, and Level II on Monday night has one signed.

Since Thursday night is still open I'm going to open that evening up to an evening meditation with an audio workshop of Eckhart Tolle, the author of The Power of Now. We have all of his CDs and listen to them each morning after meditation. They have been very inspirational, and his teaching has helped give me words for my experiences in the path of yoga. All of his talks are recorded at workshops where he invites the audience to experience the inner peace of being free from the stress of compulsive thinking. While we won't be able to listen to an entire workshop, we can experience segments of each talk weekly until the workshop is completed.

The evening will start at 7 P.M. and last one hour. Along with a 20 minute Tolle session, there will be basic meditation instruction and a 20 minute meditation session. From my own experience I can say that group meditation is very powerful because of the support one receives when group consciousness if focused on a single goal.

There is much mystery and misunderstanding connected to meditation that we can remove, and it is becoming very mainstream, thanks to scientific research that has proven its ability to reduce stress and lower blood pressure. Nor does meditation have to be restricted to a dark room or a retreat. Meditation can by practiced during our working day, where it is most effective in keeping the mind from begin swept up by stress. So there is much to learn about meditation, and much to gain when it is practiced for just a few minutes a day.

For all the wonderful women who have taken time from their busy day to take our yoga class, this will be a great opportunity to get the men in your life involved in a stress management program that really works. Just tell them it will improve their golf game or hunting skills.

Thank you,
Om Peace
